Mining for Gold
A 5-Week Writing Workshop to Unearth Your Hidden Narratives, Get to the Heart of the Story and Craft Your Essay or Memoir
You have lived through it—
- unbelievable circumstances that could have broken you, but somehow caused you to find hope instead.
- complicated relationships that challenged you to your core and also taught you how to discover love in what is broken.
- ‘truth-is-stranger-than-fiction’ moments that are funnier than any Saturday Night Live skit could ever be.
- being rendered an “outsider” because our culture didn’t see you and counted you out.
- feeling deeply connected to ancestors and the Earth and wanting to share the wisdom that flows to you so easily.
- the beauty and darkness of our sometimes messy lives and still you are in awe of how we evolve.
There are so many stories. Few (if any) are easy to write. But you absolutely can write them.
The stories that hold our wound (and wonder!) also hold our remedy—and can become a remedy for others, too.
So how do you write your wisdom? How do you not simply put the events down in chronological order, but actually get to the heart of the story?
These are the questions that I usually hear: Where do I begin? How much do I say? Can I actually say it? Why do I keep writing everything except what I actually mean to say?
Here’s the truth: the terrain of Personal Narrative is much broader, more layered and more integral to our work than we expect when we begin. Our story often lives just beyond familiar territory and we are called to venture to unexpected places.
I have been to these places many times with many writers and writers always return with story gold.
I created Mining for Gold to help you to unearth your hidden narratives and get to the heart of your story faster, more directly and with greater clarity–and experience transformation in the process.
And as for that last niggling question about whether the world needs to hear your story? The answer is a definitive YES!
We are living in a time of unprecedented change when the stories we have believed to be true about identity and whose stories matter are undergoing radical revision.
Each of us has a role to play in shaping the evolving narrative of our times. So whether you consider yourself a writer or simply someone with gems to share, the world needs your story—now.
Are you ready to (finally!) write your story and work with me as your guide?
If so, I can’t wait to see you in class!
Join this 5-week writing workshop to unearth your hidden narratives, get to the heart of the story and craft your essay or memoir.

If you feel like you made the wrong decision or are unsatisfied for any reason, I’ll refund your payment within the first 7 days of purchase. Simply reach out and I will give you a full refund, no questions asked.
Aside from class, I recommend that you put aside time for 30-minute sessions at least 4 days a week during the space of the workshop. This will give you a good foundation to work from. We will talk more in class about how to create a writing practice, but I'll share one thing now: consistency is key.
